10 Morning Habits You MUST TRY To Ensure A Successful Day!

Okay, so there have been a million articles, videos, and blog posts on the Internet telling you what you should do in the morning to be happy and healthy.  However, most lists are bland, unrealistic, and uninspiring.  I wanted to create a list of things that I do in the morning that ACTUALLY WORK and don’t take up a ton of time.

If you implement these into your morning routine, you will feel so relaxed, inspired, and energetic.  Of course, everybody’s schedule is a little different, and by no means am I saying that your morning needs to look exactly like mine.  But even if you only implement two or three of these things into your daily routine, you’ll see an overall improvement in both your physical and mental health!

So, without further ado, here are 10 Morning Habits You Must Try to Ensure a Successful Day

Wake up earlier!

I know.  The last thing you want to think about is getting up any earlier than you have to, but waking up with barely enough time to get ready starts your day off with chaos.  Running around panicking that you’ll be late creates a loss of control over your day.  Waking up earlier gives you enough time to get ready with ease and accomplish the rest of the steps below!

Don’t check your phone/laptop as soon as you wake up.

Admit it.  The first thing you want to do when you wake up is check your phone notifications so you can see what’s happening with the world.  Trust me, I can relate.  I used to check my phone as soon as I woke up to see all my social media notifications, texts, snapchats, etc.  The problem is that I would do this for two hours before actually getting out of bed.  Our phones can do so much now that you could just look at it forever while lying in bed.  It’s a distraction that will cause you to be a lazy bum all day, so it’s best to avoid it until after you’ve gotten out of bed.

Life Hack: Before going to sleep at night, put your phone and laptop on the other side of the room.  That way when you wake up, you’ll have to get out of your bed to check your phone.

Make Your Bed

I used to wonder why people even made their bed.  I’m just going to sleep in it and mess it up again that night.  However, an unmade bed is a mess.  Seeing a mess as soon as you wake up doesn’t set a good tone for the rest of your day.  Beyond that, making your bed will make you feel productive as soon as you wake up because you accomplished a task without procrastinating.  This will help you feel more in control of your day and create a feeling of success as soon as you wake up.

Drink Fruit Infused Water

So, this is a new thing I’ve been trying.  As much as I love working out, I’ve always had a problem drinking water.  It never appealed to me due to its lack of flavor. Water is also boring and basic.  Like…there’s nothing exciting about it even though it’s the single most important thing we need to survive.  What I’ve started doing is slicing up a couple of orange slices, putting them in a mason jar, and then filling up the rest of the jar with cold water.  I’m all about aesthetics and presentation.  Having water look this pretty makes me much more inclined to want to drink it.  Also, the orange slices give it just that little bit of flavor and makes me feel so clean and refreshed.  Now instead of running to the fridge for chocolate milk or some other unhealthy beverage, I really look forward to my beautiful jar of fruit infused water every morning.

Make a Real Breakfast

It’s so easy to run in the kitchen and make sugary cereal or eat a protein bar.  While the protein bar can be very good when you’re in a rush, you should try to create a real breakfast every morning.  A “real breakfast” doesn’t mean you have to create an omelet with smoked salmon laid perfectly onto a croissant finished with a homemade Italian sauce.  A real breakfast can be as simple as some eggs with a piece of banana & peanut butter toast, which takes all of 5-10 minutes to make.

Since I work out in the mornings, I don’t like a heavy breakfast. I want something that makes me feel light and clean before heading off to the gym.  If you stuff yourself full early in the morning, you’ll feel slow and heavy, and won’t want to do much at all.

Make a To Do List That Inspires You!

Okay, I’m sure you’ve seen a thousand articles telling you that making a To-Do list is critical to success, so I don’t need to lecture you on the importance of it.  However, I’m a visual person and a piece of paper with some words telling me all of the things I have to do does not motivate me to want to take action on those things.

So, what I started doing was making my to-do list more interesting.  I try to come up with fun and creative ways to present my To-Do list every day.  Sometimes I write it on paper with doodles, sometimes a marker board with lots of different colored markers, and sometimes in a very pretty word document with a fun layout.   That way when I look at my To-Do list, I’m inspired to go out there and conquer everything on it!

Stretch

A lot of articles tell you to work out in the morning because it will raise your endorphins and make you much more excited for the day.  While this is true, some people either can’t work out in the mornings, or just don’t want to.  And that’s okay!  However, taking 15-20 minutes in the morning to stretch out your entire body is a very relaxing and fulfilling way to start your day.  Your body will feel so great afterwards and you will feel so relaxed afterwards!  This is a KEY component to the success of my day.  If I miss my morning stretch, I feel so tight in both my mind and body.

Shower in the Morning!

For all of you that shower at night, I don’t know how you do it.  When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is shower.  It makes me feel so clean, allows me to wake up, and is a great place to just get deep in thought about what my day is going to be like.  If I didn’t shower in the mornings, I’d feel so grumpy and unwilling to do ANYTHING!  If you have the time, try forcing yourself to get in the shower in the morning.  It is a life changing experience every day for me!

Take Pride in Your Appearance!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rolled out of my house wearing a pair of sweatpants and an oversized t shirt.  Especially if I’m just going into my morning classes where I couldn’t care less about what others thought of me.  However, taking pride in your appearance isn’t about pleasing others.  It’s about giving yourself the attention and care that you deserve.  Slopping on a dirty pair of socks with a shirt you’ve had since middle school isn’t going to make you feel like you run the world.

Now I’m not saying that you need to put on some extravagant gown or tuxedo every time you go out.  Everyone has their own style.  As a Professional Athlete, I love wearing brands like Lulu Lemon, Adidas, & Nike.  I like presenting myself in a way that makes me look athletic and strong.  I also like that fitness clothing allows me to move around the way that I want to.  Maybe some people don’t think I should wear fitness clothing in public unless I’m working out.  Well, it’s a good thing that it’s my body that’s wearing it and not theirs.  Find a style that makes you feel comfortable in your own skin, and take that bit of extra time in the morning to make yourself look like the bad b*tch you are!

Show the World That You’re in Charge With Good Posture

Ok, I’m not trying to sound like your grandmother telling you the importance of posture, but when you leave to go out into the world, keep your head up, back straight, and walk like you own the place.  While others are slugging themselves out of bed and rushing to get where they need to go, you’ve already taken control of the day early in the morning.  The way you stand, sit, and walk will not only show others how confident and in control you are, but it will also help you stay attentive and ready for whatever the day brings next.

And those are my Top 10 Morning Habits that I follow every day.  These habits are a key part to my success as a Fitness Lifestyle Entrepreneur.  So, try them and see the results for yourself!
